Larry was a popular student at W.H. Adamson High School. He was energetic and charismatic. That charisma served him well as he was a cheerleader. He graduated in 1963. From there, he received his bachelor’s degree at North Texas State University in 1968. In 1971, Larry was transferred to Cincinnati, Ohio, for his job at Leggett and Platt. While there, he received another degree at The University of Cincinnati. He was transferred back to Dallas in 1976. In 1979, he worked alongside his childhood best friend, Douglas Adams, at Clampette, Inc., where he became Vice-President of Purchasing. In 2023, he retired from Bank of America, where he was a Senior Operations Rep.
As an active, athletic adult, Larry played competitive softball for many years. Several of those teams won their league. When he wasn’t playing softball, Larry enjoyed and was a connoisseur of classic movies. He also enjoyed getting together with friends. He especially loved reunions. Larry was also a devoted Christian. He was a longtime member of Wesley Methodist and Elmwood Methodist Church.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janis Fletcher; sons Bradley Tey, Craig Tey, and Collin Fletcher; grand-daughters Breanna Tey, Arabella Tey, and Charlotte Tey; and nephew Darrell Bochmehl. He will be missed by friends and former colleagues alike.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurellanddallas.com for the Tey family.
