Larue B. Svacek, 91, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was a former resident of Seminole, TX and Dallas, TX. Her husband of 63 years, Joseph F. Svacek, Jr., died in 2008. Born September 1, 1919, in Lubbock, TX, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Nettie (Sawyer) Barrier. She met her husband in Dallas and they were married there August 30, 1945. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Home Economics. Her graduate degree was in textiles and design from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, NYC. She and her husband built, owned and operated a motel and other commercial interests in Seminole, TX for over 45 years. She retired to the Dallas area in 1992 before moving to Bethlehem in 2003 to be close to her daughter. Larue was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Seminole, TX. Surviving are a son, Joseph III of Midland, TX; a daughter, Jana Svacek Able of Bethlehem; PA, four grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters; a brother and many nieces and nephews.
