LaTonja Latrice Thompson, affectionately called “Tangie”, a native of Mobile, Alabama was born Saturday, January 4, 1969, exchanged this life for eternal joy on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Charlton Methodist Medical Center in Dallas, Texas while surrounded by her loving family and friends.
LaTonja united with Christ at an early age at Greater Allenville AOH Church of God where she served until she moved to the Dallas area. LaTonja attended Palmer Pillins Middle School and B.C. Rain High School where she was active in volleyball, band, and softball. She made her Debutante Debut with the Strikers Social Club and served as a Lady in Waiting in the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Area Association.
After graduating from Dillard University (New Orleans, Louisiana) and moving to the Dallas area, LaTonja met the love of her life, Donald Antonio Alexander (Tony). In 1997, they united in marriage and LaTonja became LaTonja Alexander. To this union, two children were born – Taylor Alexis, Tori Elise, and an extended daughter Ketasha Nicole.
She attended Disciple Central Community Church here in DeSoto, Texas. On any given Saturday, you would find her on the soccer field cheering for Taylor or at the basketball court rooting for Tori. Her girls meant the world to her and there was no place too far she wouldn’t travel to support their every endeavor. Even if that meant, LaTonja would be serving as a coach for the soccer team or serving on the Desoto Soccer Board. One of her proudest moments was seeing Taylor off to Southern University Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
LaTonja was welcomed into her eternal home of glory by her; father, Edward (ET) Thompson, Sr. and grandparents. She leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Carol Thompson; devoted husband, Donald (Tony) of twenty-three years; daughters, Ketasha Johnson (Willard), Taylor Alexis and Tori Elise; god-son, Jayden Chayse Durham; one brother, Edward Thompson, Jr.; three grandchildren, Izejah, Sincere, and Jasiya and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and brothers and sisters in-laws .
