Laura Lee Hall

Laura Lee was born to the late Horace Sr. and Olather Shelby of Marlin Texas. Laura attended Antioch Baptist Church in Marlin, Texas where she accepted Christ at an early age. Upon moving to Dallas, she joined Carver Heights Baptist Church and later became a charter member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church - Dallas.

Laura graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Marlin, Texas. Upon graduation, she moved to Houston and began working in the dietary department at Methodist Hospital, where she developed a passion for nursing. She moved to Dallas where she worked at Parkland Hospital as a nurse assistant in the pediatric department and later completed her nursing degree through Dallas Osteopathic Hospital.

Laura met and married Thomas Hall on March 9, 1965. To this union there were two children: Clarence “Michael” and Shana.

After a fulfilling 32-year career in nursing, she retired and transformed her home into an affordable, nurturing haven for children. In 1994, she opened Laura’s Day Home, where she discovered her true passion and remarkable gift for pouring love, patience, and guidance into young lives.

She generously supported organizations such as Feed the Children and St. Jude for many years, reflecting her lifelong commitment to caring for others. With her boundless compassion, gentle spirit, and delicious homecooked meals, Laura made every family feel welcomed, supported, and deeply valued.

She devoted herself to teaching, encouraging, and shaping the children entrusted to her, becoming a second family not only to them but to their parents as well. Many of those children continued to visit her throughout the years - even until her final days - a testament to the lasting impact she made on every life she touched. Laura faithfully sang in the Antioch Senior Choir, an active member of the Mother’s Board, a member of The Dorcas Circle and the Comfort Care Ministry. She had a zest for life, that included being an avid dominoes player, learning how to operate computers, joining water aerobics and attending the BSF - Bible Study for Women. One of her greatest passions was cooking and hosting family holiday meals. Laura also had a passion for fashion and beauty, which she shared as a dedicated Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for many years. She was one of Mary Kay’s top-ranking beauty consultants, a testament to her excellence, determination, and genuine love for serving others.

Preceding her in death is her son Clarence “Mike” Hall, granddaughter Zaporah Curtis, sisters; Reaver Mae Hayes, Mae Helen Shelby and brother Horace Shelby Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory and honor her life lessons, her husband of 61 years Thomas S. Hall, daughter, Shana Hall-Curtis (David), 4 grandsons; Micheal Hall, Justin Hall (Tawuana), Zachery Curtis, and Zion Curtis. 5 great grandchildren; Aeja Hall, Ahnija Hall, Alexus Hall, Jaden Hall and Jacory Hall. 4 great-great grandchildren; Quaymont Edwards, Legend Branch, Kh’lani Smith, and Sire Branch. Sister; Erma Jean Taylor (Terry) and brother Curley Shelby (late-Doris). Godsons; Edmund V. Simpson and Herbert Curlin. Goddaughter; Pancie Fleming (Sollie) and best friend, Mrs. Georgia McCarter. And a host of nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren and numerous other relatives and many friends.
