

She graduated High School in Kerens, Texas and further her education at Prairie View A & M University where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Education. She taught school for 32 years in Vernon and Dallas Independent School Districts. She loved impacting others through her knowledge, wisdom, and experience. Looking back through Laura’s life she exemplified what it meant to have faith, perseverance, and work hard. Through everything there is a trend of accolades that showed she was positive role model for personal growth. Her favorite scriptures are found in Psalm 24 and Psalm 90, which remind us to number our days and recognize who God is.
She married Joseph C. Kelly and to that union one son was born Videll D. Kelly. He enlightened their life with joy and love.
She embraced Christianity at an early age at the Fellowship Baptist Church under Pastor Sammy Davis’ leadership.
After the death of Mr. Kelly, she met and married Eddie Hunter who later passed in 2005.
She began a new journey at True Lee Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Donald R. Parish Sr, until God called her home.
Laura was mainly known as the “Family Historian”, she enjoyed sharing history and getting together with everyone. Especially with her brother and sister, reminiscing on the good times when they were children and thanking God for where they are now.
She is preceded in death by Georgia Carter her mother and TY Jimmerson her father, Joseph Kelly and Eddie Hunter.
