After a two-year struggle with breast cancer, Leah Siegel of Dallas, Texas, died at the age of 43 at Baylor Hospital on July 26th. She is lovingly remembered--not only by three beautiful children, a wonderful husband, myriad friends and family members --but by thousands of strangers who wrote to her, captured by her bravery, strength and humor in her Caringbridge blog. Some 47,000 visits were logged over a two year period. The three time Emmy award winning Dallas bureau producer for ESPN was diagnosed with stage 4 lobular carcinoma in August of 2008 shortlyafter the birth of her third child, Oliver Leah grew up in Washington, DC, attended Maret High School, graduated from the University of Maryland and spent a year studying in Aix en Provence, France. She lived in Lakewood in east Dallas for the past 12 years. She is the daughter of the late nationally known sportswriter Morris Siegel and author/journalist Myra MacPherson. She is survived by her devoted husband , Eric Loehr, and three adorable young children Teagan, Wyatt and Oliver, her mother and brother Michael Siegel. Her beloved friends and family members, as well as thousands of strangers, joined her in her battle against cancer.
