Lena Ellen Anderson

Lena Cannon Anderson was born to Luke and Mildred Cannon on February 01, 1917. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years (Jacob E. Anderson); son Andy (Jacob E. Anderson, Jr.); sister Buelah Smith and husband Avery; and sister Joyce Magnuson and husband Jerry. She is survived by her son Walter L Anderson and wife Linda; grandson Luke K. Anderson and wife Jamie; and granddaughter Kathryn L. Serrano and husband Jerry; nephews Avery Smith, Jerry Magnuson and niece Jo Ellen Edwards. Lena received a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, where she met and married her college sweetheart, Jake, in 1937. At various times in her life, she was an active member of The Dallas Story League, Architects Wives Club, Parent Teachers Association, Fiber Artist’s, Mary K. Class and Bethany Group. She was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church, where she taught for many years and was a member of the Joy Class. She worked in crafts selling her art work at festivals and specialty shops. She conducted workshops and exhibited her crafts in galleries and art museums. She enjoyed gardening and sharing what she grew. Lena loved her home that husband Jake designed for the family and lived there for 57 years, later moving to independent living at 5-Star Premier, where she found new friends and activities to enjoy. She resided at the Tradition Prestonwood Memory Care her last two years. Lena died on June 14, 2018. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 10:00 am at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W Northwest Hwy., Dallas, Texas, 75225. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, Texas, 75225. Many thanks to Dr. Robert A.
