Leona accepted Christ at an early age and united with Shiloh Baptist Church. After moving to Dallas, Texas, Leona became a devoted member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. T. L. Edwards and Bishop B. R. Walker. She served as a member of the usher board for over twenty-five years. Leona later became a member of Highway to Heaven Baptist Church under the late Rev. Leo Torrence and Pastor Ernest L. Zackery Sr.
Leona was under the watch care of Deliverance Chapel Church of God In Christ, under the late Superintendent Elijah Kelly, Jr. and Pastor Edward Taylor.
The love of GOD and the love of family were the most important things in the life of Leona Eubanks. Her favorite quotes were: “GOD is in the Blessing Business,” and “Together we stand; divided we fall.”
Leona was the oldest Charter Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Martha Chapter #2022 of Mount Olive St. Joseph Grand Lodge.
On Friday, March 23, 2018, the trumpets sounded and Leona answered her call as she entered into her eternal home in glory. She was welcomed by her daughter, Brenda Kay Eubanks; parents, Martha and James Eubanks; one brother and six extended siblings.
Mother Leona Eubanks leaves to cherish her Life and her Legacy: four daughters, Martha Nixon (Jimmie) of Grand Prairie Texas, Gloria J. Eubanks of Dallas, Texas, Leona C. Anderson of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Genise Eubanks of Dallas, Texas; her thirteen grandchildren who loved their “Big Momma”; forty-one great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren who loved their “Biggie;” and a host of family and friends.
