On Saturday, November 20, 2021, Gail Shiner passed away at the age of 73. She was born on July 14, 1948, in El Paso, TX. to Byron and Elizabeth Shiner. The daughter of an Air Force Colonel, Gail spent her early life moving with her father—living in the Philippines, Virginia, Alabama and Germany. She settled in Dallas after getting her Masters in Counseling from the University of North Texas. Gail spent 40 years as a teacher and counselor and was an administrator for the Dallas Independent School District’s homeless education program. She is survived by her son, Joshua, her daughter, Julia, and three grandchildren: Anne, Lillian, and Joseph.
As a counselor, Gail helped people find and open the door to their best self. She gave herself to others and was always willing to provide a sympathetic ear. In life, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who touched lives far beyond her immediate family.
In keeping with her passion for those with the greatest need, and for those wishing to donate, donations can be made to Vogel Alcove, which provides children and family homeless services and the North Texas Food Bank in her honor.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com for the Goldstein family.
