Linda Anya Hahn

November 22, 1940 - August 7, 2026

Linda Anya Hahn, née Allman, died early on August 7, 2026 of complications from dementia. Born on November 22, 1940 to Leo and Leona Allman in Wichita, Kansas, she moved to a house on Penrose in Dallas five years later. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School where she loved dancing in Oklahoma! and doing high kicks on the drill team (and into her seventies)! On Penrose, on Meadow Lake and at Woodrow, she made lifelong friends.

She attended Austin College where she met Donald J. Hahn Jr. of Austin before transferring to the University of Texas. They both graduated from The University of Texas in 1962. They married that June, then moved to Dallas after Don completed UT Law School.

Linda earned her degree in English and she was a born teacher, starting with putting her little sister on a stool in front of a chalkboard. When she first started teaching Shakespeare to 12th graders at Kimball High School, she taught in high heels to be taller than her students!

Ten years after the birth of her daughter, they both started 5th grade, one as a student, one as a 5th grade teacher. Linda went on to teach for 25 years in grades five, six and nine at The Saint Michael School (where she was the one and only Teacher of the Year!) and at The Episcopal School of Dallas. She developed and published Rainbow Writing, a curriculum that color coded sentences to help her students learn to write essays, and taught all her fellow Lefties to turn their paper to the right!

In 2005, Linda retired to spend time with Don at The Ranchito, their ranch outside of Hico, Texas, and with her two granddaughters. In Dallas, she attended D.A.R., Shades of Green Garden Club, Trippers Dance Club and Craig Class, as well as her beloved Last Tuesday Book Club of over 50 years.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Don Hahn, her daughter, Laura Leigh Hahn, her sister, Lisa Pate Green, her granddaughters, Madeleine and Annabelle, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She touched the lives of so many over the years, including hundreds of students, and her radiant smile will live on in our hearts and memories.

Memorial service will be held at The Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Chapel, 8011 Douglas Avenue, on September 25th at 2 pm.
