She was born March 1, 1926 in Alliance, Nebraska to Albert Michael Scott and Della Elizabeth Stager Scott. Her father was a farmer and her mother a school teacher. She was the youngest of four children and, as such, was often alone on the farm with no one with whom to play. This loneliness must have made a big impact on her as she determined at a very early age that she would have six children so that she would not be alone again.
Loeine spent her early youth either on the farm with her mother; at the Experiment Farm, where her father worked; or with her sister, Hazel, in Scottsbluff where she met a young airman from Texas on his way overseas during World War II. After his tour of duty in England flying bombing missions over Germany and France, Floyd "Sparkie" Turner and Loeine were married. They spent time in Florida, Mississippi and Georgia with the military before settling for a time in Nebraska, then a move to Texas that landed them in Garland, where they called home for over fifty years. Loeine was a homemaker (and she needed to be as she did have those six kids she wanted) while her husband worked for Ford Motor Company. A transfer with Ford landed the couple in Kentucky with their three youngest children where they lived for about ten years.
Loeine was an active member of the First Christian Church, singing in the church choir, sponsoring the Chi Rho youth group and participating for many years as a church camp counsellor. Loeine was also a member of the Homemakers club in Kentucky and worked with various charities.
Her interests included family, gardening, crocheting, sewing and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, taking care of the numerous grandchildren (sixteen in all) that God blessed her with.
Loeine is survived by one sister, Elva Eads; five sons; Claude Albert and Estela Turner, Floyd Arnold and Tes Turner, Michael Walter Turner and Glenda Mason, Paul Leslie and Emilia Turner, Theodore Allen Turner, Donna Turner and Polly Bishop; and one daughter; Don and Cynthia Sue Turner Smith, 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Hazel Floyd, brother Harry Scott and her beloved husband, Floyd Arnold Turner.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2013 in the Grove Hill Chapel.
