Loyd Clifford Murrey

Loyd C. Murrey, 89, of Dallas, Texas went to be with his God on September 30, 2011. Born on September 26, 1922 at Myrtle Springs, Texas, he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ruth Tanner Murrey, his sons, Galen D. Murrey and Dudley W. Murrey and his wife, Christine, his grandson, John Tanner Murrey, his wife, Christina, and their son, Jason Kyle, his grandson, Michael Austin Murrey, his nephews, Ronald Murrey, Gary Murrey and Jim Adair, Jr. and numerous other family members and friends. Mr. Murrey was a long-time employee of the United States Government until his retirement in 1984. An exceptional gospel pianist, Mr. Murrey played for numerous gospel singers and groups and for church services over six decades, most recently for his beloved Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church of Dallas. He was a devoted family man, who took great pride in his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Urner L. and Bertie Phillips Murrey, his brother, Harold R. Murrey and his sister, Mrs. Jo Parkerson. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Grove Hill Funeral Chapel, and the family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2011, at Grove Hill Funeral Chapel.
