Luciano “Sonny” Moya, 72, passed away on October 4, 2026. Born September 17, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, Sonny later made his home in Irving, Texas. He will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew him.
A graduate of Nimitz High School in Irving, Sonny carried forward a steady thoughtfulness that showed most clearly in the ways he stayed connected. Year after year, he made a point to call his nieces and nephews on their birthdays—small gestures that spoke volumes about his devoted heart and the quiet care he took with the people he loved.
Sonny found joy in simple pleasures and familiar traditions. He loved settling in to watch TV shows, and he especially enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He also liked playing the lottery and spending time at the horse races at Lonestar Park—moments that suited his patient spirit and his easy, good-natured way of enjoying life.
To his family, Sonny was a beloved presence—kind-hearted, steady, and warmly attentive. He was, above all, a fun uncle: always laughing, always smiling, and always ready with a joke. He delighted in teasing that everyone else was getting older while he remained “forever 15,” a line that captured his youthful spark and the lightness he brought into every gathering.
Sonny is survived by Eli Moya Jr. wife Yolanda Moya; Sister Rita Reyes husband Tomas Reyes; Brother Joe Mario Moya wife Sylvia Moya; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
The Moya Family thanks you for being here today to celebrate Sonny’s life.
