Luis A. Nuñez, 75, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 10, 2026. Luis was born on December 30, 1950, in Ojo de Agüita, Michoacán, Mexico, to Maria Aguilar and Alfredo Nuñez. Luis married Olivia Nuñez in 1982, and together they shared 44 years of marriage and built a life centered around their family.
Luis was a hardworking man who devoted his life to providing for and protecting his family. He worked as a Driver for the City of University Park, where he dedicated 26 years of service before retiring. His strong work ethic was a part of who he was from a very young age, and he often shared stories with his family about growing up in Mexico, beginning work as a child, coming to the United States, and eventually meeting the woman who would become his wife.
At home, Luis could often be found outside working in his yard, which he took great pride in keeping beautiful. When he wasn’t outside, there was a good chance he was watching his beloved Texas Rangers play baseball. He enjoyed listening to ranchera music, telling riddles, traveling to Mexico, and reminiscing about the experiences that shaped his life. Luis was a deeply loving and protective husband, father, and grandfather. He was especially affectionate with his grandchildren, and spending time with them brought him great joy. He was a provider and protector throughout his life, but his presence itself was perhaps one of the greatest gifts he gave his family. It is that presence, the familiar stories, the riddles, the baseball games, the time spent outside, and simply having him there, that his family will miss most. Luis was Catholic, and his faith was an important part of his life. Luis was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Aguilar and Alfredo Nuñez, and his siblings, Celina Guzman, Alfredo Nuñez, and Virginia Garcia.
Luis is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years of marriage, Olivia Nuñez; his children, Everardo Nuñez, Priscilla Sauceda, and Gilda Nuñez Carterson and her husband, Jeff Carterson; and his grandchildren, Gabriela Nuñez, Daniela Nuñez, Gabriel Sauceda, Nicholas Sauceda, and Fabian Sauceda. He is also survived by his siblings, Estela, Felicitas, Miguel, Honorato, and Maria Nuñez; their children; and many other family members and friends. Luis also leaves behind his family’s beloved four-legged companions, Maximus, Zeus, Allie, and Remy, who were part of the family he loved so dearly.
