Ms. Lurlean Green

Lurlean Reed Green known as Mother Green was born September 15, 1927 in Grand Prairie, Texas to the parentage of the late Booker T. Reed and Annie Mae Fisher Reed. She died at the age of 89 years young. Mother Green grew up and received her early education at Beer Creek and Mosier Valley Schools in Tarrant and Dallas County. She graduated from Booker T High School. Mother Green also graduated from nursing school with a LVN license. She was the third of six sisters. Four sisters preceded her in death (Lola Bell Reed Humphrey, Helen Jewel Reed Harden, Mable Reed and Marian Reed Kimble). Lurlean married Lonnie Green Jr. and to this union five sons were born. One son, Dwight Wayne Green preceded her in death.

The first church she attended was Ben Washington Baptist under the leadership of the late Reverend Lott. Mother Green gave her life to Christ and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Reverend Hooker of Shady Grove Church of God In Christ. She later joined Lighthouse Rescue Mission Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Height. Mother Green remained a faithful member under the leadership of her son Pastor Warren D. Green until her health declined. She faithfully served as church mother, prayer warrior, Sunday school teacher, secretary and treasurer. You name it, she did it.

Mother Green leaves to cherish four sons, Booker T. (Ruby) Green of Fort Worth, Texas, Lonnie Glen (Curlena) Green of Fort Worth, Texas, Pastor Warren Dexter (Beverly) Green of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Timothy Bernard (Mae) Green of Irving, Texas. She leaves to cherish one daughter in law, Lucinda Green of Grand Prairie, Texas and one sister, Dr. Maude Alice Reed Small of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mother Green also leaves to cherish four sisters in law and two brothers in law, Gussie (Harvey) Pipkins of Irving Texas, Carolyn (Bishop Robert) Nicholas, Sr. of Desoto, Texas, Thelma Pipkins and Essie Jo Woods both of Irving, Texas.

Mother Green had a big heart. She loved God, her church and her family deeply. She was the epitome of a strong black woman, saint, mother, sister and fried. Her memories ROCK on in our hearts. Mother Green will be missed but never forgotten. Our mother was and still will be our HERO.
