

Lynda Harper Salas, age 79, passed away on July 4, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on March 2, 1943 in New Orleans Louisiana to H. Lavell Harper and Marie Viering Harper. Lynda was raised in Algiers Louisiana, and graduated from Martin Behrman High. She later graduated from El Centro College of Nursing in 1981.
She married Victor Henry Salas, Sr. in 1965 and the couple had three children. She was a Registered Nurse at various hospitals and home health care providers in Mesquite Texas for more than 15 years.
In her spare time Lynda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially with the grandchildren, whether at home, travelling or on the phone. She loved to cook and was a prodigious reader who would read even the encyclopedia cover to cover. She loved to organize, to work in her flower garden, to clean and to watch the game show channel. Her family and friends will always remember her as a kind and generous person with a servant’s heart. Lynda loved helping make life better for everyone she crossed paths with. She was a long-time member of the Casa View Baptist church and loved the people and her time there. She cherished her church and her faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents H. Lavell Harper and Marie Viering Harper, her younger sister Karen Harper Marcello, and her husband Victor Henry Salas Sr.
Lynda is survived by her sister Sandra Harper Massey and her husband Lloyd Massey along with their children and grandchildren; her children Victor Henry Salas Jr. and his partner in life and in business John McGlumpy; Kristin White and her husband Matt White and their children Natalie, Ellie, Riley, and Torie; and Amy Hill and her husband David Hill and their children Alex, Hudson, and Anna; and her beloved grand-pets Lucy, Rex, and Sam.
A visitation for Lynda will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with a committal service to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
