Lynne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was born in Covington, KY, on April 7, 1940, to parents Walter and Jean Carroll. She was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Barbara Simonson.
She graduated St. Theresa’s Academy in Kansas City, MO, in 1957. Lynne was always putting others first and dedicated her life to helping the less fortunate by being involved in women’s circles with St. Rita and All Saints Catholic Churches in Dallas. She met her beloved husband, John Burr Barnard ,on a blind date and got married in 1958. John remained a loyal and supportive husband to Lynne and cared for her until her last days. Their love and devotion to each other was an inspiration to us all.
Lynne was so proud of her four children, Jack (Amy), Walter (Trudy), Tim (Jennifer) and Dana (Lee). She was a constant listening ear and bright spot to her eleven grandchildren and was blessed to be a great- grandmother to five! She lived life to the fullest and some of her favorite things were cooking, hosting holiday family gatherings (including a highly competitive annual Easter Egg Hunt), dancing to Pit Bull, playing Mah-Jongg with her friends, participating in the Irish American Society/Italian Club and many church women’s circles, buying Christmas presents for every single family member, traveling around the world with John, sipping on tequila and taking her grandkids on vacations. Everything in her life was centered around her family and God. Lynne has always had an infectious laugh and was always the life of gatherings.
She was taken too soon and her absence has left a huge void in our hearts, but she will live on in the light she brought to each of our lives.
