Mable Lee Davenport

With a heavy heart, but also with a deep sense of gratitude for life, we have to say farewell to our beloved Mable Lee Davenport who passed away on May 9, 2025. Born on January 20th, 1944, in Mitchell, Texas, Mable entered the world as a precious gift to her parents, Clearissa Williams and John D. Davenport. Raised primarily by her father and stepmother, Johnnie Mae Davenport, Mable's early life instilled in her a profound value of family and unwavering love. She received her education at James Madison.

Life presented Mable with significant challenges. She experienced the profound sorrow of losing both her parents, her daughter Sheila Sanders, and her grandsons, Lil Thomas Sanders and Michael Sanders.Yet, amidst these hardships, Mable's spirit remained unbroken. She was surrounded by the love and support of a large and loving family, one of twelve children, where she learned the importance of kinship and unwavering support.

Mable’s gentle nature, kind heart, and determined spirit left an enduring mark on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.She is survived by her two sons, Steven and Homer Sanders Sr.; her two daughters, Bennie Sanders and Kimberly Glider; her granddaughters, Rochey Sanders and Idella Sanders; her grandsons, Samuel Sanders and Jaquis Rayvon Gilder; her sisters, Johnnie Ruth Smith and Ellen Marie Davenport; and her brothers, John Lee Davenport and Samuel Davenport. Mable also had nine great-grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends who will sorely miss her presence.

To those who loved Mable, and to those whose lives she touched, know that her love transcends earthly boundaries. Though her physical presence is gone, her spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in our hearts. Let us celebrate her life, cherish the memories we hold dear, and find comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace. Please do not grieve for her passing, but instead celebrate a life filled with love, resilience, and enduring family bonds. Her memory will be a guiding light for us all.
