It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of the heart and soul of our family, Marcia Lynn (Krause) Wewe. Born on June 2, 1949, Marcia passed peacefully in the early morning hours of May 18, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by the family that loved her.
To know Marcia was to know what unconditional love looked like in everyday life. She never needed grand gestures to show people she cared. She showed it in phone calls just to check in, in visits to family and friends, in making sure everyone made it to church, and in the countless little things she did for the people she loved. Her love language was most definitely Acts of Service, and she passed that gift on to each of her children and grandchildren.
Her husband, Merle, was the steady rock and constant companion of her life. From the time they first met as teenagers in high school, they built a life side-by-side through every chapter that followed. They shared the excitement of secretly dating as kids, the adventure of marrying young and raising four children together, and later the joy of traveling the country together in their travel trailer. Through every season of life – the busy years, the hard years, and the happiest ones – they remained each other’s closest friend. In the end, just as he had been through every important moment of her life, Merle was there holding her hand as she peacefully passed from this life into the next.
Her devotion to her children started early and never slowed down. When they were young, she took a job serving lunches at their elementary school and later became PTA president simply because she wanted to spend more time with them during the day. That was Marcia – always finding ways to be present, involved, and needed. She was the steady place everyone returned to, the person who made people feel safe, cared for, and deeply loved.
Marcia found joy in life’s simple moments. She loved most anything colored purple, going to the movies, crafting trips with her daughter, Kim, family camping trips, annual Dancer family reunions, and spending time with the people she loved most. Later in life, one of her favorite places in the world became the dock at Cedar Creek Lake, where she could spend hours laughing, visiting, and soaking in the peace of the day beside Merle and family. She may not have always reeled in the biggest fish, but she never failed to enjoy herself along the way.
But nothing made her prouder than being “Nanny.” Her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren were truly her best friends, as she often said herself. She proudly wore her Nanny shirts and related merch, yet she wore the title with even more pride. Her home, her heart, and her life revolved around family.
Marcia was also a devoted follower of Christ and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. From attending Saner Avenue Church of Christ as a child with her parents, to Duncanville Church of Christ (Grace Place), and later Brown Street Church of Christ, her faith remained an important foundation throughout her life. Through church she formed some of the deepest friendships she ever knew, including Gary and Connie Bray, friends of almost 40 years whom she always considered family.
She believed kindness mattered. She believed people should show up for one another. And she believed that even small acts of love could change someone’s day. Those lessons are stitched into the lives of everyone she leaves behind.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Merle Wewe; her children Kimberly Wewe Stinemetz of Dallas, Texas; Keith Wewe of Dallas, Texas; Kyle Wewe and wife Marna of Austin, Texas; and Keri Wewe Barnes and husband Jason of Gilmer, Texas. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Heather Todd and husband Kris; Robert Bravo and wife Gessika; Emilee Hoff and husband Kyle; Justin Gonzales and wife Eddith; Ashley Newell and husband Adam; Jason Barnes Jr.; Riley Barnes; Miach Gipson; Jake Wewe; and Kailey Wewe. Her great-grandchildren include Laynee Hamilton, Gavin Hamilton, Carter Clark, Taytum Clark, Eva Bravo, Piper Bravo, Colton Hoff, Savannah Hoff, and Eli Guaman. She is also survived by many beloved first and second cousins, nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Krause and Goldie (Dancer) Krause; her brother, David Krause; and her granddaughter, Hollie Marie Bravo. We take comfort in knowing she is joyfully reunited with them in Heaven today.
Marcia leaves behind a void that can never truly be filled, but she also leaves behind a family shaped by her kindness, generosity, faith, and fierce love. She will be deeply missed every single day.
