In memory of my brother Marcus Jimenez Jr. Together we acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift his life was to us and the pain that his passing brings. In sharing the joy and the pain together, may we lessen the pain and remember more the laughs and smiles his sense of humor gave us before and after the Cowboy games!
Marcus was just 65 years old when he passed away on Thursday May 26, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 6, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Marcus & Dora Villasana Jimenez of Dallas, Texas with his six brothers and sisters. Marcus attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas and became a talented musician early on.
Marcus was close to his family, to his friends, and also his beloved cat. Growing up with Marcus as an older brother wasn’t always easy for me. He would pick on me his little sister by jumping out of closets or hiding upstairs but the best thing he did was play his albums in his room Loud! It was his playing records of the band Chicago that I became a loyal fan to this day. Marcus was good to his friends, family and employers, he worked many years for the Dallas Morning News and went on to work for International Trucks. Marcus's friends were good to him as well - their care and support during his last years especially, is very much appreciated by all of us his family. Marcus joined the Army at a young age and served in Vietnam. Marcus worked hard but he also enjoyed his life. He loved to watch the Cowboys WIN but not lose and he loved to go hang out at the Legion with his fellow service members and just be there no matter what kind of mood he was in. That made him happy and proud to be there. Marcus was a talented drummer at a young age and played with his brothers in their very own band-The Impossibles during his school years. I use to love to hear him do a drum solo! Yep Wipe Out! My love of music comes from having a big brother who's passion was to play to Three Dog Night, Grand Funk Railroad and many more.
Marcus was preceded in death by his sister Becky Luna, his brother Robert Jimenez his dad Marcus Jimenez Sr. and his best friend Karen Barber. Survivors include: his children Sausha Jimenez , Marcus "Marc" Jimenez, his beloved mother Dora Jimenez, sisters Roseanna Jimenez, Dora Gonzales, brothers Roland Jimenez wife Cindy, Frank Jimenez wife Donna and many nieces nephews cousins who all loved Marcus.
Visitation Tuesday, May 31 from 4-9 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, Dallas. Funeral services will be held June 1st at 10:00 am Calvary Hill Chapel with interment at DFW National Cemetery at 1:15 pm Step to the music brother, the melody lingers on forever.
