Margarita G. Rojo

Margarita G. Rojo, 95, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at her residence in Garland, TX. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to all who knew and loved her.

Born in Mexico City, Mexico, on December 12, 1925, Margarita immigrated as a young woman to South Texas with her husband and 3 children. Over the next few decades, she had 10 children more, learned English, and learned the American holiday traditions and how to cook a typical Thanksgiving meal, all while managing a large household. She enjoyed sewing, making many outfits for her children; she also took up needlepoint and crocheting. At a young age, Margarita developed a strong Christian faith and, together with her husband, relied on her strong faith to guide her family. She instilled honesty, generosity and a strong work ethic in her family and enjoyed being surrounded by them. Among her other interests, she enjoyed reading poetry, studying her bible and listening to music.

Margarita’s survivors include her 11 children: Margaret Rojo, RosaMaria Rojo, Doris (David) Rodriguez, Yolanda Rojo (Tony Gregg), Gloria Rojo, Minerva Rojo, Joe Rojo, Diana (Uriel) Gardea, Laura (Antonio) Delgado, Becky (Jeff) Cook, and Rick Rojo. Margarita’s 10 grandchildren include Edward (Maricela) Saldaña, Daniel Rojo, Teri (Conrad) Read, Gabriel Rodriguez, Monica Saldaña, Ryan Gregg, Sophia Gregg, Adrian Gardea, Allison Montague and Amanda (Bobby) Phelan. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Kayla & Cathy Saldaña; Shelby (Trevor) Mann; Devin Rojo; Elijah Martinez; Beau and Shepard Read; Kambry, Alexa and Natalia Gardea; Robbie Phelan; and three great-great-grandchildren, Bryson, Easton and Madison Mann. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 70 years, Enrique “Henry” Rojo, two sons, Ricardo and Enrique (Henry) Rojo, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Marsha Rojo.

A funeral service for Margarita will be held Monday, January 11, 2021, at 1:45 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas, 75225. A graveside service will occur Monday, January 11, 2021, following the funeral service, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225.
