Maria Luisa Arana passed away June 24, 2012 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 79. She was born in Chihuahua, Mexico in 1932. After having her first son Luis, the family moved to Cd. Juarez in 1956. For 22 years Maria worked in El Paso factories including Hicks Ponder and Levi’s. Summoned to motherhood later in life, Maria raised a second son, Jacobo, and moved to Dallas in 1980. Maria was a dedicated housekeeper to several families over the course of 30 years and an untiring provider for her family, always having her son Jacobo in private schools and helping him to graduate from SMU. Maria created many lasting friendships and never lost contact with her extended family in Mexico, a tribute to her character of love for family and friends. She is remembered as a dignified, attractive and sensible woman.
Maria is survived by sons, Luis Arana of Kansas City and Jacobo Arana of Miami; daughter-in-law, Norma Arana; sister, Socorro A. Silva; brother-in-law, Pedro Silva; grandchildren, Luis A. Arana, Jorge Arana, & Arlene Arana; nieces and nephews and several extended relatives.
There will be a visitation at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM; both services will be held at Sacred Heart Mausoleum Chapel, 3900 Rowlett Rd. Rowlett, TX 75088. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
