Thank you! Maria De La Luz was born on November 19th, 1931 in Guanajuato, Mexico. She was a very courageous, strong, hardworking, and determined woman. She believed in God and her faith kept her going as she never gave up. After the death of her mother, her father decided to bring her and her siblings to Texas. This is where she met her future husband, Isidoro Casanova, an American citizen, who assisted her with her residency.
Enduring hardship as a single mother, she worked as a housekeeper and raised her children the best way she knew how. Now they are all married and have families of their own. In 2001, she became an American citizen. After retiring, she volunteered at the Marillac Senior Center and was hired through the Catholic Charities.
She is preceded in death by her husband Isidoro Casanova; her father Salome Juarez; mother Crescencia Sanchez; brothers Miguel and Jesus Zuniga; granddaughter Calleen Gonzales and great-grandson Brandon Fuentes.
She is survived by her eight children and their spouses, Maria Luisa and Rick Rivera, Isidoro Casanova Jr., Dolores Casanova, Eva and Gilbert Pecina, Celia and Felix Salinas, Maria Trini Martell, Robert, David, and 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Nicolasa, brother Jose, and many nieces and nephews.
Our beloved mother, you will forever be missed, always in our hearts and thoughts. Until we meet again. We love you.
