Marinell Rivers Martin

Marinell Rivers Martin was born in Jefferson TX to Gladys Stewart and Randal Rivers on Feb. 28th, 1938, died Feb 28th, 2011 just in time to celebrate her last birthday with her beloved husband. Marinell spent her early Childhood in Louisiana and came to Dallas with her family in the late 1940's. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson H.S. and kept up with many of her friends from those days until she became too ill. She also met and married the love of her life, Glenn Martin. They were together 56 years, married 53 of those years, and as promised, did not part until Dad’s death in August 2009. They truly were in love. Marinell loved to travel; she saw most of the United States and traveled in Europe as well. Mom was sick most of her life after having suffered a debilitating Stroke at age 33. In spite of this, she managed to learn how to type with one hand, to speak and to drive a car. Marinell was a giving person and was always striving to help others. Marinell and Glenn both had one major light in their lives; their grandson, Trevor Sterling Martin. He joined us late, but was right on time! In addition to grandson Trevor, Marinell is survived by his parents; Brian and Pamela Martin, their firstborn son, Jeffrey G. Martin, and his life partner Geovany Martinez. Please help us celebrate Marinell’s reunion with Glenn in heaven: free from suffering and illness they are finally together forever in peace and love.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 in the Serenity Chapel of Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd. Dallas, Texas 75228. Interment: Grove Hill Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
