On August 3, 1957, she was a bridesmaid for her dear friend, Mary Lou Watkins, who was marrying a young attorney in Houston, Charles W. Hall. It was there that she met Charles’s brother, John H. Hall. After a 3+ month courtship, Marion married John on November 23, 1957. They were married for 58+ years until John’s passing in February of 2016.
Marion was a member of University Park United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, a fundraising and volunteer service group that supports the work of the Salvation Army. She enjoyed participating in Friday Book Club, Mary K. Craig Class and numerous bible studies over the years. But her greatest passion was with Alcoholics Anonymous. On August 22, 1981, she began a 39+ year journey of sobriety, sponsoring and helping countless individuals who experienced the same battles she was facing.
To know Marion was to love her. Her sense of humor and fun wit was appreciated by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother and the ultimate grandmother.
Marion is survived by her sister, Judie Dies, of Austin; daughter Ellen Taylor of Dallas; son John H. Hall, II and wife, Katherine, of Dallas; and 8 grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Marion L. Martin and Margaret Sanders Martin.
