

Marjorie Beth Woods Mendoza, born December 29, 1939 in Milwaukee, WI to William and Beth Woods, passed away on August 31, 2017 in Dallas, TX. She is survived by her children Felipe, Melinda, and Patrick, all of Dallas, her brother Robert of Saint Louis, grandchildren Isabella, Caroline, Hunter, Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her husband Felipe, her parents, as well as her brothers Bill, Don, and John.
Marjorie was a 1957 graduate of Messmer High School in Milwaukee. After graduation, she worked in Milwaukee and then lived in San Francisco before setting off on an adventure in Europe. She sailed on the S.S. France where she met lifelong friends and settled in Geneva, Switzerland working for Manpower. After a couple of years in Geneva, she moved to Frankfurt, Germany and worked at the U.S. Army Hospital. While living in Frankfurt, one night while having dinner at the Officer’s Club, she met a young Captain named Felipe Mendoza and after a courtship in Europe, they were married on November 27, 1967 before his deployment to Vietnam.
After her husband’s return to the States, the couple moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina where they had their first child, Felipe. After years there, the family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where they had their daughter Melinda. After Atlanta, the family moved to Dallas where they had their son Patrick, then to Fresno, California, and finally back to Dallas where they lived for the rest of their lives.
She was a devoted mother and enjoyed attending her children’s soccer, baseball, and lacrosse games, as well as their band and vocal performances.
She was full of joy and love, and she will never be forgotten by those who knew her.
A vigil and rosary will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest on Friday, September 8 from 6 – 9pm. Funeral mass will be 10:30am Saturday, September 9 at All Saints Catholic Church, with internment at Sparkman Hillcrest immediately following.
