Marjory Burdett Niewenhous Sherman died on July 21, 2018 at age 96. She was born in New York City to Mathias William Niewenhous and Edith Aue Hyatt Niewenhous on November 8, 1921. She grew up in New York and graduated from The College of Mount Saint Vincent in 1942 with a Bachelor's degree.
Later that year, Marjory moved to Washington, DC and worked for Naval Intelligence, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the National Security Agency as an intelligence analyst until her retirement in 1958 to become a housewife in Bethesda, Maryland.
Marjory married Robert Miller Sherman on January 7, 1956, and the couple had two children together. Her son, Robert Miller Sherman, Jr. was born on August 6, 1957, and her daughter, Carolyn Hyatt Sherman was born on July 31, 1959. Mrs. Sherman and her family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1974, where she lived for the rest of her life. The family had many animals and a small farm in Wills Point, TX. Marjory enjoyed gardening, reading, and was devoted to her Christian faith.
Mrs. Sherman is preceded in death by her parents, Mathias William Niewenhous and Edith Hyatt Niewenhous, and by her husband, Robert Miller Sherman. She is also preceded in death by her four siblings: Dorothy Niewenhous Marsh, Mathias William Niewenhous, Jr., Dr. Theodore Hyatt Niewenhous, and Gerald Elveron Niewenhous. She is survived by her son, Robert Miller Sherman, Jr., and by her daughter, Dr. Carolyn Hyatt Sherman, and by several nieces and nephews and their families.
