

Mark Norman Julius of Phoenix, Arizona, age 64, passed away on February 27, 2022 ,after a valiant fight with cancer, surrounded by his adoring sisters, Ronni and Sheila. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and one-of-a-kind friend. Mark was born on November 2, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, to Sidney and Ruth Julius. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1975 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Texas in Austin. He maintained lifelong friendships from those times. Mark’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Some of his happiest times with them were trips to Las Vegas, weddings, Thanksgiving gatherings and class reunions. Mark will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit, kindness and the ability to make everyone feel welcomed. Mark will be dearly missed.
Mark was also beloved by his late honorary parents, Stanley Joe and Madelyn Schepps. When his older siblings went to college, he formed another “family” with our dear neighbors the Schepps' family children. They became our family, too, and include Fonda Arbetter (Jay), Debra Shulkin (Randy), Gary Schepps and Ben Schepps. His honorary grandnieces are Stephanie and Erica Arbetter. Mark is also survived by his niece Erin Bersin (Michael) and his grandnieces Tessa and Sophia Bersin.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Sidney Julius and brother, Matthew Julius. He is survived by his sister, Ronni Julius Einsohn, PhD, Sheila Julius Schwartz, Irene Julius, nieces Jamie Beth Julius, Meredith Erin Sinel, nephews Benjamin Robert Julius, Jonathan Daniel Julius, Daniel Scott Schwartz and partner Angela Franklin, grandniece Ella Ruth Sinel and grandnephews Sidney Daneja Sinel and Matthew Ira Julius.
Mark’s family would like to recognize the fine care provided by Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona. Mark requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Holocaust Museum of Dallas and the Jewish Federation of Dallas.
Service to be held March 7, 2022, 10:00 am, at Shearith Israel Synagogue, with Rabbi Adam Roffman officiating. Graveside service at Sparkman/Hillcrest following. Pallbearers include Benjamin Robert Julius, Jonathan Daniel Julius, Daniel Scott Schwartz, Ben Goldfarb, Gary Schepps and Randy Shulkin.
