Marlené Elise (Marshall) Neathery, 52, wife of Charles, mother of Kyle and Trent, daughter of Gene and Pat Marshall, and sister of Michelle Crotty joined her beloved Jesus after a valiant short bout with cancer and its treatments.
Born in Waco, she spent her childhood Air Force family years there and in Alabama, California, Arizona and four years in Madrid, Spain, and lived most of her life in Dallas Lake Highlands. She was a Lake Highlands Highlandette, a fiercely proud graduate of Texas A&M University and earned a MBA from the University of Dallas, using her education wisely at work and managing her home life.
She served as a Worthy Advisor in The Order of Rainbows for Girls and in her professional career she managed Contract Administration at E-Systems, Nortel, and InterVoice-Brite. While rearing her sons she worked from home grading Business coursework for Western Governor’s University. Her most treasured and rewarding work was being Spanish teacher for St. Patrick School and a Eucharistic minister at St. Patrick Church where she had been a parishioner since 1973. She loved her Spanish students.
The most meaningful effort in her life was being Mother to Kyle and Trent and wife to Charles. She is also survived by Father-in-law Jim, Sister-in-law Nancy, Brother-in-laws Matt and Byron, Nephews Sean, Chris, Christopher, Andy and Jamie, as well as adored Aunts Ann, Vicki and Mardy, and Uncles Francis, Trent and Michael, and all of her dearly loved cousins.
A celebration of the life of Marlené will begin with a viewing at 6:00 PM Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, followed by Rosary and Vigil at 7:00 PM, then Mass at 12:00 PM on Saturday.
The family would like to thank the compassionate and professional support staff at Presbyterian Hospital for Marlené’s care, especially nurses Iris, Mayflor, Genevieve, Linda and Quartrella.
