Martha Gwenne Gassett, known to many as Sandy Laman and later Sandy Brooker, was born March 12, 1950, in Dallas to Johnny and Frances (nee Strader) Gassett. She passed away April 19, 2018, in Dallas. Sandy is survived by her son Scott Laman of Dallas, stepsons Damion Brooker of The Colony and Adrian Brooker of Plano, husband Mark Montgomery of Dallas, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sandy is also survived by her dear friends Susie Dunn of Fairview, Becky Daves of Flower Mound, and Rex Smith of Atlanta. Sandy leaves behind many more friends who were close to her heart. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Ellen Gassett Martin.
Sandy spent most of her career in the dental industry, first supporting Evan B. Blakely's practice in Dallas, then later working at the Dallas VA and UT Southwestern. She retired from clinical research with Dentsply in 2014. Sandy loved spending time with her family, entertaining friends, traveling, riding horses, and enjoying her ranch in Ben Hur, Texas.
Sandy battled Lewy Body Dementia, but never lost her sweet disposition, sense of humor or the love for her family and friends.
A celebration of Sandy's life will be held Tuesday, April 24, at 11:00am, at the Monie Chapel at Presbyterian Village North, in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) or the charity of your choice.
