Martha Yanez was born on April 6, 1953 in Dallas, Texas to Julia Hernandez and Reyes Gonzales and passed away on September 22, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jose (Joe) Yanez III and their son Jose (Joey) Yanez IV as well as her brothers, John, Raymond and Jessie and her two sisters, Evangelina (Vange) and Irene as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Her earliest ambitions in life were to work and have a family.
She graduated from Crozier Tech High School here in Dallas in 1972. While in school, her friends affectionately called her “Hamburger”.
She met her husband Joe at “Rick’s Disco” in 1985 and they were married on March 8, 1986.
Martha was a Woman of Strong Faith - From our beginnings of church attendance at Gaston Ave. Baptist Church until her last breath, she read, prayed and studied her favorite book The Holy Bible. Her relationship with God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was genuine and full.
Martha Believed in Family First – She deeply loved, cared for and protected her immediate family, her extended family and all of her friends who became like family to her.

Martha’s Proudest Moments –
1) The birth of her son Joey on September 9, 1986.
2) Being chosen as Outstanding Student of the Year at Stephen F. Austin elementary school in 1966.
3) Being first chair flute in the band at Crozier Tech High School.
4) Being recognized in 2019 at Neiman-Marcus for 45 years of outstanding service by naming a street after her: Martha Yanez Way. They also jokingly said they needed to rename the company “Neiman-Martha” because she had been there so long.
5) When her brother John returned home after serving in the Air Force.
6) When her brother Jessie stopped drinking.
7) When she went to Austin to see her brother Raymond graduate from college.
8) When her son Joey, graduated from high school.
9) Her husband Joe’s cooking.

What Martha hoped others had learned from her: To be the type of worker that she was, to treat everyone equally and to have a strong faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Martha lived her life to the very fullest and said that she’d like to be remembered as a giving person.
