Marvin William Blumberg
June 12, 1919 – March 12, 2018
Marvin William Blumberg, age 98, passed away in his home in Dallas, Texas on Monday March 12. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and moved to Atlanta in 1933 where he attended Boys High School and graduated from Georgia Tech. While serving in the 184th AAA Gun Battalion in World War Two, he attained the rank of Captain and participated in the landing in Normandy. After returning from Europe, he started Briarcliff Mills, an apparel manufacturer located on Memorial Drive in downtown Atlanta. He is survived by his wife Janis, who were married for 67 years, his sister Betsy Teplis of Atlanta, his sons Michael (Sally) Blumberg of Vancouver and Richard Blumberg of Atlanta, and daughter Ann (Brad) Bulkley of Dallas, and grandchildren Michael and Alison Bulkley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Faith Presbyterian Hospice. The Graveside Service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park at noon on Thursday, March 15, 2018.
