

She was born on March 8, 1923, in Dallas to John W. and Viana Carroll. She was raised in Oak Cliff where she met, fell in love, and married James E. Horton in 1942. A legacy began in her large loving family. Sixty four years of marriage produced ten children, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren – all of whom were her greatest pride and joy. She gave all she had to her family and they in turn loved her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first born, James Ronald Horton; daughter, Martha Jo Henson; brothers: Ernest, Johnny, Alfred, and Warren Carroll; sister, Juanita Carroll; and her husband, James “Jimmy” Horton.
She is survived by children: Marvin Horton and wife Paula of Kemp, Pat Bradley and husband Doug of Dallas, Nancy Pugh of Dallas, Michael Horton and wife Jane of Gunbarrel, Barbara Pendergraft of Dallas, Raymond Horton and friend Lola of Dallas, David Horton and wife Darla of Seagoville, and Roy Horton and wife Jennie of Seagoville; sister, Eula Hudson of Mesquite; and many friends and family to cherish her memory and legacy of love. She was a best friend, momma, and grandma to all who knew her. She loved life, fun, and children and all that included.
Funeral services will be held 2pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Grove Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel with Pastors George Weldon and Donny Morrison officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6pm to 8pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Troy Horton, James Bradley, Darrell Horton, Michael Rogers, Johnny Holland, Jason Holland, Jordan Gries, and James Flex.
