The angels came to take our beloved Aunt Mary home to our heavenly Father on April 12, 2013. She was born in Deridder, Louisiana on July 6, 1922 to Luke and Louise Mondello, immigrants from Sicily. Her Mother died while Aunt Mary was a young girl and James and Katie LaBarba helped Luke raise her as was the Sicilian custom. She grew upo with "five brothers and 4 sisters" - she was never an only child. They wrapped their arms around her and she was embraced into the fold. Their love was the example she followed to her last breath. Aunt Mary had an endless capacity for compassion, understanding and love of life. She was a shining example of how to face adversity with dignity, perseverance and grace. She lived her faith.
Aunt Mary never gave birth, but she was the Mother to us all. She touched so many lives and was forever the caregiver. She would nourish your body and soul.God gave us an Angel to teach us all how to live our lives. She was the lady of hats, gloves and high heels! We hold her sacred in our hearts and strive to carry on her legacy. The family wishes to thank all of her many caregivers over the many years.
