Mary Elizabeth Bellah

Mary was born in Paris, TX on May 11,1929, to Opie Mack Carlton, Sr. and Nellie Erin Littlefield Carlton. After moving to Dallas, she attended North Dallas High School and graduated from R. L Turner High School in Carrollton, TX. Mary was married to Samuel Ollie Bellah on December 22,1952; they were married almost 60 years when he passed away.

Mary worked as a secretary before becoming a stay-at-home mom. In her younger years, she enjoyed going to movies, wiener roasts at White Rock Lake, playing miniature golf, bowling and outings with friends. Mary stayed young-at-heart and even bowled 2 games with family on an Easter afternoon when she was 90 years old. Mostly, Mary enjoyed family gatherings and time spent with friends and loved ones. She was an active member of Garland Road Church of Christ, and when her children were young, she enjoyed teaching the two & three-year-old Sunday school class.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son, Samuel Carlton Bellah; her brothers, Opie Carlton, Lewis Carlton, and Bill Carlton; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Mary is survived by her children, Debra Bellah Simpson, Cathy Bellah Pinnell and husband, Craig, and Jenean Bellah; grandchildren, Angela Phillips and Sam Pinnell; great-grandchildren, Haley Ward Soto and husband, Adan, Makenna Ward, and Ethan Ward, as well as several special nieces and nephews, and other close family and friends.

Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Grove Hill. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, followed by reception and committal, also at Grove Hill, with Larry Williams officiating.
