Born on February 12, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, to Carlo and Frances (Salvaggio) Campise, Mary grew up surrounded by faith, family, and love. After graduating from St. Edward’s High School in 1953, she met the love of her life, Larry Lucido. From the moment they met, it was “love at first sight.” They married on June 5, 1955, and went on to share 70 beautiful years together.
She was an extraordinary homemaker whose selfless love and unwavering devotion shaped the hearts of her family. A gifted cook, she effortlessly prepared her famous pasta with “suga” and meatballs weekly for Sunday lunch—an open invitation for family, friends, and even those lucky enough to drop by at just the right time. In the 1980s, she handled a variety of administrative responsibilities in the mail-order division of Neiman Marcus’s Horchow Collection catalog. A founding member of St. Monica Catholic Church, she generously volunteered wherever she was needed—both in the church and at the school. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she shared her gift for many years as a member of the parish choir. In keeping with her deep devotion to the Blessed Mother, Mary was also a long-standing member of St. Monica’s Legion of Mary and participated in the work of St. Monica’s Pro-Life Ministry. For many years, she was also a member of the Dallas Vocation Guild. Mary was deeply devoted to her service as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing Communion and comfort to St. Monica parishioners unable to attend Mass. She cherished this ministry and those she served, continuing faithfully into her 80s.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Frances Campise Hare; Father, Carlo Campise; and brother, Frank Campise.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Larry; her daughter, Fran Thompson; and her sons, Carlo Lucido (Rhonda), Victor Lucido (Namta), Michael Lucido (Melanie), Paul Lucido (Betsy), and Anthony Lucido (Amy). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Jimmy Lucido (Melissa), Nina Baker (Rory), Jeanmarie Rouswell (Simon), John Michael Lucido (Emily), Joseph, Luke, Brianna, Raegan, Chase, Anthony, Daniel, Ethan, and Rebecca Lucido, soon to be 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Lucy Rose Campise; her niece, Mary Frances Campise Archer (Mike), and her nephews, Anthony Campise (Kim), and Frank Campise Jr. (Carol), along with many other cherished relatives and dear friends.
