One of four children, Mary was born to John and Theresia Phillips on December 4, 1948, in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in the local community, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School before going on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas.
Mary dedicated her professional life to public service, building a meaningful career at the Department of Health and Human Services. It was there that she met the love of her life, Wayne Fairchild. The couple married on November 24, 1975, and shared 41 beautiful years of marriage until Wayne’s passing in August of 2017.
She is survived by her son, Max Fairchild, her stepdaughter, Rachel Mitchell, and her grandchildren, Olivia and Lucas Mitchell.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Liturgy of the Word will take place at North Chapel (inside mausoleum), 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220, on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by the entombment in the mausoleum.
