

Mary Nell Taylor Foote, a longtime resident of Dallas, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at age 95. She was born in Pine Hill, Texas on November 15, 1920 to A.B. and Altie Nelson Taylor. She was the youngest of three sisters along with two brothers. She graduated from Henderson High School and later from Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College (now Stephen F. Austin State University) in 1942 with a B.S. degree in home economics. While at SFA, she met her future husband, Myrph Foote. During World War II, Mary Nell taught school in East Texas while Myrph served overseas in the Army Air Force. After the war, they married at her parents’ home in Pine Hill on February 3, 1946 that lasted for 60 years. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Dallas where Myrph earned his CPA degree and started his lifelong public accounting practice. In 1951, she gave birth to Myrph Jr. and in 1954 to younger son Ken. She was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend to all. She enjoyed tennis and traveling. She was a member of the St. Mark’s Mother’s Club and a life time member of the Dallas Woman’s Club. She is survived by her two sons, Myrph Foote of Dallas and Ken Foote of Fort Worth; daughters in law, Sila Grogan and Mary Foote; four grandchildren, Susan Dowhower of Washington DC; Guy Foote of Dallas, and Taylor and Robert Foote of Fort Worth; and two great grandchildren. Her husband Myrph preceded her in death in 2006. Private interment at Sparkman Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation will be Saturday, November 21, from 2-4pm at Sparkman Hillcrest Dallas with a Memorial service on Sunday, November 22, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial to Baylor Health Care System Foundation. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Marta Cortes, her longtime housekeeper of 40 years, and the staff of Compassion Nursing who provided for her care for the past 13 years.
