Mary grew up in Calvert, TX where she accepted Christ at a young age. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Dallas, TX, where she married and started a family with her former husband, Curtis Henigan, Sr. As a single parent, she worked various jobs to support the family. In 1970, she became a certified wig stylist. The ladies of the neighborhood flocked to her house to have their wigs and hair pieces styled. She moved to Corpus Christi in the late 1970’s. While there, she received training to become an office assistant and worked for the Educational Service Center. She later moved to Houston, TX and finally moved back to Dallas.
Preceding her in death were three brothers: Jake, AB, and Johnnie Hurst, Jr.; three sisters: Veora Demerson, Myrtle Woods, and Gladys Marshall; and four other infant siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Curtis, Jr. and Willie Charles Henigan; one daughter, Sherriel Ann Curtis (James); two grandchildren, Tierra Miles (Galon) and Robert Andrews, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jaszmyn Foster, Kierstyn Andrews, Leah Andrews, and Julius Andrews, and one blended great-grandson, Kameron Miles (Lindsay). Mary also leaves one sister, Mittie Robertson from Hearne, TX; one brother, Melvin Hurst, Sr. (Mazola) from Houston, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
