I have known Mary Evelyn since grade school in Oak Cliff, She was always smiling and welcoming, So fun to talk to her. She was a "50's" kinda o' gal and loved to laugh. Her wonderful sense of humor was a gift and I have fun memories of her and a time when things were uncomplicated (although as teenagers we took everything so seriously and Mary Evelyn's giggle and fun sense of humor was "much needed".) I will never forget we had a great "growing up" time... I knew her as "Mary Evelyn Dance" as we grew up and remember how as we moved into our teenage and early twenties she was "stuck" on a guy named "Benny"...He was lucky! We have lost fun, very special person. My heart goes out to her family.

Dear Benny & Family: My heart goes out to you all as you are now experiencing life here with Mary Evelyn in Heaven. I’m beginning to understand how mom & dad felt when more & more of their Colonial friends preceded them to Heaven. It is a treasure to me as an adult remembering the blessing of having been raised in such a close-knit church & my memories include you & Mary Evelyn, Gina & Jerry, and JoLynn & Don—all dear friends who I have always admired. I’ll never forget you singing “The Lord’s Prayer” in our wedding. I hope to be able to hug your neck at Mary Evelyn’s Service. Y’all are in my prayers for your hearts to be comforted in the days ahead & for there to be much joy in remembering the amazing, loving person Mary Evelyn was for the years God gifted you with her. Love! Sharon (Humphreys) Dumas
