Mary Lucy Jones

At 99 years young, (Mary) Lucy passed into Heaven’s Gates on Friday May 24th at Garnet Hill in Wylie, TX.

Lucy was a loving mother and grandmother. Born in Kilgore, TX to Nathaniel and Candace (Dickerson) Bean, Lucy spent her early years in Kilgore, Houston, and Dallas, moving to Plano in 1981, and lived there until she moved to Garnet Hill in 2010.

Lucy loved her grandchildren dearly and as long as she was able, Lucy enjoyed cooking for her family. She made the best pecan pie south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Lucy was a southern lady and loved to tell stories about her youth and experiences in life, passing much wisdom to her family, often spinning colorful details and intertwining an occasional risqué joke from time to time.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Ellie, her parents and her 10 siblings. She was survived by her son, Michael E (Anita Holmes) Jones of Wylie, TX, Judy Fleming White (Richard) of Granbury, TX and Barbara Fleming Guggolz (Paul-deceased) of Manchester, CT, as well as 12 grandchildren, Heather Moulder (Jeff), Chris Jones (Lori), Holly Jones, Amy Jones, Kyle Jones (Annie), Nicole Williams (Jermaine) and Dee Connors (Joe Franklin), Kristen Sims, Gavin Sims, Stacie Kelley, Bob Guggolz, Angela Cavegnaro (Barry), as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral home and cemetery in Dallas, TX. Visitation will be Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 1:00 pm.
