Mary Luna

April 17, 1926August 9, 2019

At the home of her daughter Sara, with family at her side, Mary Luna, beloved wife of the late Marcelino Luna passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 9, 2019 at the age of 93 years.

She was born on April 17, 1926 in New Castle, Texas to Casimira and Jose Sanchez. She was a wonderful mother and will be sorely missed by her children, Marcelino Luna, Jr., Sara Quintanilla, Manuel Luna, Soila Escamilla and Gloria Garza along with family of now deceased daughter, Tina Botello, many other extended family members and friends.

She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She loved her church and lived her faith. She had a calming personality and loved her role as “Granny”. She embraced every moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who followed after.

Her prayers were the strongest ever, you could rely they would be answered. She blessed everyone she met along her lifetime.

She was a highly-skilled seamstress, who retired from Sanger Harris Dept. Store in Dallas. She had the patience to alter beautiful, expensive wedding gowns and men’s suits.

Hermana Luna, as I knew her, one of the sweetest spirits and precious souls I came to know as a young girl when I used to go over and spend the nights in the summers to play with Soila.

She always had a wonderful smile and so friendly and loving. She always made me feel so welcomed. I always enjoyed being around her. I know she left a great Legacy of Love and Joy to all her loved ones.

To Soila and all the Luna Family , It is with great sadness to hear of the loss of your Dear Mother. Please know that your are in our thoughts and prayers always.

Forever In Our Hearts - A Celebration of Life

Tia Mary thank you for all your love...our beloved Tia Mary, sister to our Mom. Since the passing of our mom (Fina Morales Moreno) who died 23 years ago, Tia Mary was always there for her nieces and nephews. We feel so blessed that we have many beautiful memories of Tia Mary that fill our hearts.

Thank you cousins for always sharing and taking time to take Tia Mary to our functions. It meant so much to us to have our Tia Mary with us at weddings, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, picnics, and so many other gatherings.

We smile because God blessed our family with Tia Mary. She was a faithful servant of God who had a heart of gold. Thank you God for the life of Tia Mary who had an endless amount of love in her heart that she gave to us all.

Your love for God, compassion and forgiveness were always at the forefront. Thank you for my Daddy and all the special moments we shared. I will never forget telling you I was pregnant with Austin and you saying, “A baby is a gift from the Lord.” I love you, always 💖

My dear friend Sarah, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your precious Mother Mary.
I remember when we were in high school and I first met your Mother, she was so nice. Years later when we were members of the same church and I had the pleasure of seeing her every Sunday, I looked forward to seeing her beautiful smile and that hug she always gave.
I will always remember how elegantly she dressed and the beauty and class she displayed so effortlessly. What a wonderful legacy she left, not only in her example but also in her children.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Mary “Mom” Luna was a jewel and special person in my life. Had been married to her daughter Gloria and always kept in touch with “Mom” through the years. She was always so sweet and kind to me; plus she always had a prayer for me. I admired her spirit and faith, she always had a smile on her face. She was an exceptional woman of character and made a positive impact in my life.

I only got the honor to meet Granny one time in my life. How beautiful she was and how proud of her family is a memory I will always cherish. My daughter Ava was just 6 months old when we met her. She held her in her arms and I could feel the pure love in her heart she felt for her babies. Although we were not lucky enough to live close and know her we knew she had us in prayer always. Her heart and love grew a large and blessed family. We love you Granny. Heaven gained the sweetest angel. ❤️

I lived behind the Luna family (when they lived on Willomet) . I remember as a girl, Mrs . Luna would get off of the bus and walk up Willomet to her house. I always thought she was the best dressed lady I had ever seen. Then I met her and she was such a sweet lady. Always very sweet to my sisters and I.
My sympathies and prayers go out to her family in their time of lose.
