
Mary Jane Bishop Lusby at the age 101 died in chandler, TX September 23, 2012 after a long healthy life. Her passing is the close of another generation and the passing of an era. Mary Jane was born August 17, 1911, in a sod house on her family’s homestead in Sioux County, North Dakota. She grew up in South Dakota and was educated at Ft. Pierre High School in Ft. Pierre, SD. She came to Texas from Ft. Pierre in 1938 and had resided in Dallas for 62 years. Since June of 1940 she had resided at 9903 Elam Road. She moved to Tyler in November 2001, due to her age and a desire to be close to family. Then in 2005 she moved to Chandler and lived at the Chandler Nursing Center until her death. She was member of the Riley Church of Christ in Dallas. Proceeded in death by her parents, Karl Henry and Edna Marian Sturtevant Bishop; a brother and sister-in-law Karl Allen and Frances V. Nelson Bishop; nieces Janet E. Bishop Austin, Linda Faye Bishop and a nephew Robert Henry Bishop; a daughter-in-law Cathy Sorenson Lusby. Survivors include: her son James Allen “Dakota” Lusby of Amarillo, TX; nieces and their husbands, Frances M. Bishop Grochowski of Chandler, TX; Tom and Patricia Ann Bishop Albinger of West Bend, WI and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Steve Weeks & Chaplin David Hicks officiating.
