Mary Byron Sanders Moore, 101, died Thursday, April 9, 2015. Funeral 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, at Laurel Land, Dallas. Mary was born in Lamar County where she spent her childhood and young adulthood. She and her husband, Babe, moved to Dallas in the 1940’s. They moved to Canton in the 1970’s, and her last years were spent in Ft. Worth. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and teacher with D.I.S.D. She was active in her faith, serving Hampton Place Baptist in Dallas and 1st Baptist in Canton. She went as a teaching missionary to Samoa in her late 70’s with the Home Mission Service Corps. Her joys were her family, helping others, and working in the garden. She was an excellent cook, accomplished artist, and gifted writer, leaving her family a beautiful book, An Old Woman Remembers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollo Floyd and Lizzie Sanders; her husband, Earl (Babe); and brothers, John and Floyd. Survivors include daughters, Mary Alice (Ed) Harry and Liz (Harlen) Brown; grandsons, John (Kris) and Jim (Jamie) Ratliff; great-grandchildren, Mary Pat, Will, Paige, Benton, Lily, Parker, and Tate Ratliff; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
