Mary Helen Nañez

Mary Helen Nañez was born on December 28, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Maria Luisa and Leobrado Alonzo. She passed away in the comfort of her home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 86.

Mary was raised in Little Mexico near Downtown Dallas and attended St. Ann's Catholic School. She married Eulalio "Lalo" Nañez in 1956. The couple had 2 children. Mary was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.

In her spare time, Mary loved to have long telephone conversations with family and friends. She loved animals, going out to eat and shopping. She also loved going to Winstar. Her family and friends will always remember her as a miss know-it-all, as well as straightforward and strong-willed—but boy, did she love the Blessed Mother. She prayed the Holy Rosary twice a day.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Leobrado and Luisa Alonzo; her brother, Robert Alonzo; her sister, Lupe Hernandez; and her husband, Lalo Nañez.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Gonzalez (husband Ben); her son, Eulalio "Larry" Nañez III (wife Leticia); her 5 adoring grandchildren, Carmen Rivas, Jesse Rivas, Jr., Cecilia Rivas, Mary Lou Nañez, and Lisa Nañez; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her sweet dove, Conchita.

The family invites you to join in honoring and remembering the life of Mary. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, with the Rosary recited at 1:00 pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3238 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 9:00 am, with the burial to follow at 10:00 am at the North Chapel of Calvary Hill Cemetery (inside the mausoleum), 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220.
