

Mary Rejebian Johnston Northern was born on February 13, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Vahram and Ermance Rejebian. Mary attended University Park Elementary and Highland Park High School in Dallas and received a business degree from Southern Methodist University where she pledged Pi Beta Phi. She married Cyrus Mitchell Johnston of Corsicana, Texas in 1957. Mary and Cyrus fulfilled a commitment to the Air Force after which they moved to Dallas and began their family life. Mary and Cyrus had three children; Mary Haddon, Cyrus Mitchell Jr. and Cameron DeWitt and were dedicated members of Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
Mary was active in the Junior League of Dallas, sustained her loyal involvement as a Pi Phi, returned to study Archaeology at SMU and focused on her family and friends. In 1980 Cyrus passed away after a long illness; and, in the spring of 1983 Mary and Joseph B. Northern were married in Dallas.
As Joseph retired from the securities business, Mary built a home in Wimberley, Texas and with Joe retired to the Hill Country in 1994. Mary quickly became an enthusiastic member of the community where volunteering became her focus. She devoted herself to the Village Library, Keep Wimberley Beautiful, Wimberley Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and various programs at Jacob's Well Elementary.
In Wimberley Mary's new church home became the Wimberley Presbyterian Church where she made new friends, served as an Elder and delighted in her role as a mentor in the youth program.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, by Cyrus and by her brother, Myron. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, and his four children; her daughter, Haddon Lewis and son-in-law Buddy Lewis and their children, Clinton Lee, Mary Cameron and Grace Ann; her son C. Mitchell Johnston and daughter-in-law Miki and their daughters, Rose Lee and Meritt Ann; by her daughter Cameron Johnston; by her sister-in-law Jane Rejebian, and by her nephews David, Michael and Bradford Rejebian.
Mary passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 after a brief illness. Services will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest on Wednesday, August 17 at 1pm in Dallas, Texas. On Saturday, August 20 at 2pm a memorial service will be held at Wimberley Presbyterian Church in Wimberley, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wimberley Presbyterian Church or to Presbyterian Mo Ranch in Hunt, Texas.
