Mary Ellen (Puig) Rollmann, age 94, passed from this life and entered Heaven's gates on September 16, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on May 18, 1932, in Laredo, Texas to Joseph Patrick Puig, Sr. and Mary Virginia Beyette. She grew up in a lively household as the oldest of four siblings, Joe Jr., Virginia Claire "Cookie," Elizabeth Ann "Betty," and John Valentine "Butch."
She attended Texas State College for Women (TWU) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Mary Ellen's life was guided by her commitment to her family and faith in the Roman Catholic Church.
Following college she married and devoted her life to her beloved husband and children. She loved cooking, sewing and making clothes for her family. She was also an avid gardener. Growing flowers and vegetables was a favorite passion. Mary Ellen was always smiling, generous, happy with life, and the rock of her family. Along with her busy life raising a large family in Houston, TX, she volunteered through her church and shuttled people needing transportation assistance to the Medical Center in Houston. She lived in several locations including Texas, Venezuela, and California.
Mary Ellen married her high school sweetheart, Earl Eugene Rollmann, on July 31, 1952, and together they welcomed seven children into this world: Elizabeth Claire "Liz" (Jack) and her children Emily (B.J.), Erin (Erin Robert) and J.R. (Addy); Edwin Joseph "Ed" (Dodie) and his children Lindsey (Sam) and Ed Jr. "Eddie Joe" (Randee); Earl Jr. (Debbie) and his children Christopher (Carrie), Eric, and Stephen; David Lee; Mary Evelyn Johnson (Joe) and her children Zechariah "Zech" (Lauren), Abigail "Abi" (William), and Caleb (Amanda); Paul Patrick and his daughter Bethea (Manny); Gregory Louis "Greg" (Bill). Mary Ellen had fourteen great-grandchildren: Austin, Jake, Max, Pyper; Avery, Mason Pekar, Scarlett, Truett; Maddie, Harry; Adah, Noah, Asher, and Castiel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joe Jr., her beloved husband of 62 years, and her son David.
Her strength, loving kindness, faith, and unwavering love for those around her will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched. Mary Ellen was not a woman of many words, but her faith in God's love was never a mystery to all she embraced. She will be missed by all who knew her. Praying to her God, as witnessed frequently, there was no need for her to "speak" because she truly knew where her answers to problems and peace were found. Her loving embrace with prayer was loud, but gentle and will be remembered and missed.
There is comfort in knowing that she prayed to her Father above and believed, "Thy will be done." She knew she would never be alone, unhappy or sick when her time was through here on earth. As penned by her favorite poet Helen Steiner Rice in The Mystery of Prayer:
"Beyond that which words can interpret or theology explain, the soul feels a shower of refreshment that falls like the gentle rain on hearts that are parched with problems and are searching to find the way to somehow attract God's attention through well-chosen words as they pray.
Not knowing that God in His wisdom can sense all our worry and woe, for there is nothing we can conceal that God does not already know."
