It is so easy to recall the humor, wisdom, and vivacious spirit of Ms. Welch from my high-school years in the 80s, as well as from the stories that her lovely daughter Susan re-told in the years since.  She was a loving, strong, brave woman.

What an amazing incredible life. Married to the love of her life for so long, creator of such beautiful, smart, creative, adoring children, and grandmother to so many grandchildren & future-world-leaders (hey, you never know!) also known as great-grandchildren -- that's a full and beautiful legacy. I am a grateful friend of Susan Welch Guzman and like so many lucky folks in Dallas practically grew up as an extended member of the Welch household. It was our go-to slumber party pad, respite & hideout helmed by Mary & Tom (Mrs. & Mr. Welch to us, of course!) who graciously opened their homes to a wealth of oddballs and gangly teens in need of a perch. Mary (and Tom as well) touched so many lives and their impact on the community and circles around the world will be felt eternally. You can't raise that many kiddos and not affect the globe! Thank you Mary, Mrs. Welch, for gracing us with your light. May you dance all over the Heavens with your Love, forever.

Mary Pennypacker Welch was my mother. How do you describe the most influential and loving person in your life other than to call her Mom? She lived her life with such grace and class. Her love for family and her Catholic faith was evident in everything she did. Raising a family of seven kids with my dad, the love of her life, was her greatest joy. 
Her main goal in life was to always have us come home as often as possible so that she could cook us amazing meals. 
She was so intelligent, quick witted, with just a touch of sarcasm! She was a life long lover of the arts and passed that onto us children. She encouraged us in all our endeavors and made you feel that you could accomplish anything. She was a Pennsylvania Dutch girl and her German culture was very evident in how she ran her home, her gardening, and in her delicious cooking! To say she had a beautiful life is an understatement. We love and miss you Mom!

I am Ramona Padilla, I graduated from BL as well and was in your class. While you probably don't remember me many of my friends Patty Devine,Theresa Harmon, Barbara Rhodes, Maurine Neisman, Gene Higgins and Rocky Martinez often spoke of you and your family and how nice they all were. I recently lost my Mom and want to send my sentiments of support and understanding during this time of adjustment and acceptance.
