Mateo Javier Garcia entered eternal rest on January 1, 2014. He was 73. Mateo was born in Mexico on June 27, 1940 to Mateo Garcia and Maria Le La Luz Oyervides. He was married to his wife, Francisca and was the proud father of 4 sons, Francisco Javier, Juan Mateo, Daniel and David. Mateo was a parishioner of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Dallas since the early 1980”s and was very active. He served his church as a member of the choir and other religious duties. Mateo will be remembered as one to easily make friends. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed singing in a band and dancing. His family and close friends will especially remember him as a caring, modest and family oriented man. No one could be camera shy around Mateo. One could easily find him with a camera on hand to take fun and memorable snapshots. Mateo is survived by his wife, 4 sons, sisters - Martha Idalia, Maria del Socorro, Graciela, Patricia, DelFina, Blanca Nelly, Maria de Jesus Oyervides Garcia; sister-in-law – Maria Cruz and Antonio Martinez; brothers-in-law – Juan E., Jose A., Enrique and Candido Cortez; mother-in-law – Eleuteria Renovato; grandchildren – Nathan Isaiah, Matthew Javier, Natalie Inez, Julian Isaac, Ava Janea, Chloe Jasmine and Francisco Javier Jr. Garcia. The family will accept family and friends for a Visitation on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Calvary Hill North Mausoleum Chapel from 10 am – 8 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor at Calvary Hill North Mausoleum Chapel on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 10 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
