On August 18, 2025, the world lost a bright light when Matthew Anders Larson passed away at the age of 30.
Matthew was born December 2, 1994, and grew up in Dallas, TX where he lived his life with energy, kindness, and an adventurous spirit. From an early age, Matthew had a way of making people smile whether through his quick wit, his big laugh, or simply the way he cared about others.
After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 2013, Matthew went on to Texas State University San Marcos. He earned his degree in Exercise and Sports Science in 2017 with a major in Health and Fitness Management. Fitness wasn't just a career path for Matthew; it was his way of inspiring people. As a personal trainer in Dallas, he encouraged his clients not only to build strength, but also to believe in themselves and discover what they were capable of.
Matthew was never one to sit still. He loved skydiving, skateboarding, snow skiing, and riding his gravel bike, always looking for the next adventure. In recent years, he found a true passion for endurance cycling. He threw himself into one day gravel road rides ranging from 50 to 115 miles across Texas, Kansas, Arkansas and Colorado. He loved the challenge, the freedom of the open road, and the sense of accomplishment at the finish line.
But more than the activities, what defined Matthew was his heart. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued and seen. Time with him was filled with laughter, encouragement, and an easy warmth that drew people in.
Matthew leaves behind his loving parents, Ted and Jan Larson of Dallas, TX, and Layla, his dog, who will continue to honor his spirit of love, adventure and generosity.
The Celebration of Life for Matthew will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the extraordinary man he was. To view the livestream of the service, please visit: https://youtube.com/live/qMSoKvUV9DM
